Internet Music Marketing – 3 Powerful Techniques Briefly Outlined & Explained

Internet music marketing is a major struggle among many who have tried and failed repeatedly. I was one, however, I somehow persisted through until I was comfortable enough to teach about it. I’m here to briefly disclose 3 important techniques I’ve learned about online music promotion.

1) Your Fans – Your Business

A person does not like to be turned down by their idol by numerous ignored messages. The amount of messages you have not responded to over the internet, is approximately the amount of money missing from your wallet multiplied by $5, or whatever amount you sell your music or product for.

This doesn’t mean sit down and have coffee with every fan that gives you a thumbs up and you don’t even have to take them fishing. Just show that you care by responding to their messages. You can even go as far as asking them to put your banner and music on their page. You can get a PayPal account and begin paying your fans if you want. This technique alone can bring massive success in a short period of time and cut your internet music marketing efforts in half.

2) Great Websites

YouTube Make videos of yourself and most importantly, type in anything about making money with music and get free info!
Blogger.com – Blog about yourself all day for free and get paid for it through the Google AdSense program. YouTube will explain all of this through tutorials.
SoundStation.com – Easily sell your albums and mixtapes. Free to set up.
Myxer.com – Easily sell your ringtones which used to be free, but now there’s a low fee.
PressExposure.com – Write more about yourself all day for free.
CDBaby.com – For $35 get your music on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, and more.

3) Internet Music Marketing!

It may seem obvious by now, but you have to promote! Many people don’t discuss this online music marketing tip however, I don’t feel like wasting anyone’s time pretending like everything you need was already mentioned above. My favorite music marketing technique is called keyword research.

You go into the Google keyword suggestion tool or the free word tracker tool and type in a broad music term. These tools will take the broad phrase and give you longer tailed phrases that you can easily rank for in the search engines by putting them on your webpage once every 100 words. You can also take these phrases along with the same method and write articles and blogs directing them back to a YouTube music video or your MySpace page to generate rich web traffic. More on this below.

YoTube and YouTube Music

I was inspired to write this article because I recently read a page by an internet marketing guru of mine Ryan Kett, he talked about the website Utube and explained that originally it wasn’t anything related to videos until the popular broadcasting site YouTube was established.

Since YouTube was founded, UTube began to get millions of unexplained visitor every month and a rise in profits from the advertising they had displayed for affiliates of theirs. They decided to replace their existing product which was industrial machine piping and upload videos of funny and interesting topics, just like the official YouTube.

I was so surprised that luck could create millionaires like this on the worldwide web, I decided to research other misspellings of YouTube and wasn’t surprised to find that other domains had been snapped up such as YoTube and YuTube. None of these other urls have made as much effort to provide their own entertainment as UTube did, instead they have created strategic advertising layouts.

My page aimed to review addresses such as YouTbe.com or YuoTube.com to give people a headstart when trying to avoid spam and it has received a warm reception with many people giving the thumbs up on the Facebook ‘Like’ button. I believe people shouldn’t have their recreational time online distrubed by marketing schemes and I have done extensive research of sites such as YuTube and more where I discovered that they were using deceptive tactics like impersonating the YouTube colours and logo to make people take ‘Prize draws’.

Music Videos’ Impact on People’s Lives

The change from the old style of sound track to music video brought new reality and strong impact to the lives and behavioral procedures of people worldwide. As powerful marketing device to promote the sale of music recordings, a music video is a short clip of image that serves to ad an illustration to a piece of music or song.

Because of its power to easily attract people, many web based companies host a large number of videos of music files that can be watched for free by users, as an active and important tool of their marketing strategies. Such is the case of YouTube, the largest video provider, Yahoo!, AOL and Musivideos and Metacafe Sites where you can enjoy well animated lyrics of the popular and latest music releases covering the famous artists, their hits and popular album reviews.

Most of music and videos entertainment from YouTube are presented in a full version. in some case they are illustrated with dance music videos. A YouTube music video can be watched on the screen of your computer only because the server does not yet offer any music videos download option. Even so, you will find on YouTube music and watch music and videos of all type online, including hip-hop, pop, R&B, Latin, reggae ton rap, Hindi songs, country music, Christian, soul, MTV, rock, punk, gospel and concert music videos.

MTV is considered as the pioneer of music with video and this designation become popular since 1980s after MTV launched a VH1. In China for example, music accompanied with images were just known as MTVs because that network that brought this style to popularity in all Chinese territories.

Animation, filming, documentaries and even live action, such as sensual dance, are just some of film making styles used by experts to produce exciting singing videos, but some music videos are just made of different styles i.e. do not interpret images from the song’s lyrics, making it less literal than expected. So, more than the simple sound, the music and song enriched with images have a strong power over the mood of thinking and acting of the new generations.
